Do you live in the age of Union? Living a lifestyle that values community, trust and giving leads to a life of purpose. That’s just one of the messages that Founder and CEO of Lightspeed Dax Dasilva writes about in his new book ‘Age of Union.’ Dax joins Taylor, Anthony and Natasha on this episode of The F Words where they discuss other topics from the book including why leadership, spirituality, culture and nature are so important, and Dax opens up about his own personal journey – growing up in B.C. to becoming a successful tech CEO.

Recently Instagram started experimenting with a new feature where your followers wouldn’t see how many likes you get on your posts. Instagram said "we want your followers to focus on what you share, not how many likes your posts get." There are some people, like Anthony, who don’t think about how many likes they get, so they wouldn’t care about this change.  On the flip side, the entire Influencer industry is built on people seeing how many likes they get. On this episode Natasha, Taylor and Anthony get into if this change would benefit people’s mental health and why there’s an urge for validation when you get likes on your posts. Listen and tell us: would you like to see this feature implemented?

Why Turning Lemons into Lemonade Can Be So Good

Life can definitely be full of twists and turns. Maybe you didn’t get that job you really wanted…or maybe that relationship you wanted to work, didn’t. But what if, instead of looking at the negatives, you focus on the silver lining.  Maybe these things didn’t work out for a reason and lead you to trying something new.  On this episode of The F Words it’s all about  seeing the bright side of missed opportunities. Listen and tell us how you’ve turned a missed opportunity into something positive!

The Things You Really Shouldn’t Say

Remember that saying your parents told you over and over again growing up – “think before you speak”?  It seems like more and more some adults still need to hear it.  From asking someone if they’re tired, to assuming someone is pregnant and asking when they’re due, there are just some things you shouldn’t say to people. On this episode of The F Words, Taylor shares a personal story of when this happened to her and how she reacted. Listen and tell us: how do you respond to a rude comment?

Is age just a number?

According to data from OK Cupid the average ages that men and women are attracted to are quite different. The study shows that women are more attracted to men the same age, where men are more attracted to women significantly younger. On this episode we discuss whether or not we think this is accurate…Anthony certainly doesn’t think so.  Natasha and Taylor also both open about relationships that they’ve been in where there’s been a big age gap. Listen and tell us: is age important to you when you’re looking for a partner?

After dating for 2 years, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez recently got engaged. J.Lo shared the news on Instagram showing off her beautiful engagement ring and also posting shots of the romantic beachside proposal. After both being previously married, the stars found love again. On this episode of The F Words, it’s all about the heart. We discuss why it’s so important to be open-minded to new possibilities and people, and Natasha and Anthony both open up about finding love again with each other.

Can you find love again? Is age a big deal?

When bestselling author and organizing expert Marie Kondo’s new show hit Netflix earlier this year it sparked a movement...a decluttering movement. Everyone was going through their closets trying to figure out if certain clothes or household items still brought them joy. On this episode of The F Words, Zoomer Editor-in-Chief Suzanne Boyd joins us to discuss if Marie’s methods actually work.  Natasha and Suzanne also share their love of clothes and why holding on to certain pieces is important to them.   Listen and tell us: when it comes to reorganizing your home, have Marie Kondo’s methods worked for you?

Fomo (the fear of missing out) is usually caused from constant scrolling on social media…seeing your friends having fun without you. It’s safe to say most of us have felt that before.  On the flip side, Jomo (the joy of missing out) is all about disconnecting and being who you are in the present moment.  On this episode of the podcast, Natasha, Taylor and Anthony chat about when they’ve felt both fomo and jomo. Listen and tweet us: which one do you feel more?

Bradley Cooper & Lady Gaga’s on screen and off screen chemistry is undeniable and after their performance at the Oscars it left everyone wondering if there’s actually something going on between them in real life. Could you ever date an actor and see your partner kiss someone else on screen? And just for fun who is your celebrity pass?

The Academy Awards are on Sunday so on this episode of The F Words – we’re talking all about the biggest night in movies. In an effort to speed up the show, it was announced some categories like cinematography and editing would be given out during the commercial breaks. After we recorded this podcast, the Academy decided to reverse its decision.  We discuss if what they had originally planned was fair, and also how the show will be without a host for the first time in 30 years.  And our love of A Star is Born continues as we try and figure out what went wrong for Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper during Awards Season. Take a listen and let us know… will you be watching on Sunday and if so who are you rooting?

With Valentine’s Day coming up, we’re getting extra romantic on this episode of The F Words with a spirited debate (ahem…Natasha and Anthony) about binge-watching! Many of us binge shows with our partners and studies suggest watching together can bring you closer, creating a stronger connection and a feeling of belonging. Watching a show that your partner wants to watch is a simple way to show that you care…but it’s not always that easy.  Disagreements or fights can easily arise while bingeing your favourite show. Listen and tell us your experiences binge-watching with a loved one.

Recently movie star Chris Pratt got engaged to girlfriend Katherine Schwarzenegger, and just as the news was being announced publicly, Chris called his ex-wife Anna Faris to let her know. Anna posted a congratulatory message on Chris’ social media and seemed generally happy for him.  So, is there a specific ex etiquette we should all be following? This week on The F Words relationship and love expert Jen Kirsch joins us to talk about the do’s and don’ts of being an ex.  Listen and tell us what you think!

Over the past month the #10YearChallenge has taken the internet by storm with everyone from your friends, to celebrities, and even world leaders jumping on the bandwagon (except for Anthony of course), but do you ever think twice before posting?  Tech writer Kate O’Neill raised some alarm bells recently suggesting the challenge was a way for companies to collect data for facial recognition algorithms.  Popsugar’s popular twinning app that went viral during the holidays was reportedly collecting everyone’s photos. Sharing something fun on social media isn’t something we’d normally think too much about…but maybe it should be.

Listen and tell us what you think!

Health Canada released its new food guide to help provide up-to-date information to Canadians about healthy eating choices and to make sure the guide is aligned with the current evidence on food topics.  Natasha and Anthony are vegetarians as is Taylor's husband Greg. Taylor is the odd person out. However she does do 3 meatless dishes or more a week.

Are you incorporating more plant based meals in your home? Is the food guide going to change your eating habits?

Happy New Year! It’s officially 2019 and with the holidays wrapping up it’s time to get back to reality…including paying off those bills and figuring out how to save for the year ahead.  A new survey put out by the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada says that Canadians have mixed feelings about their financial situation in 2019.  41% of people surveyed said their financial situation will improve over the next year, while 45% think it will remain unchanged and 11% say things will get worse for them. This week on the podcast we welcome Doretta Thompson, Director of Corporate Citizenship for CPA Canada who breaks down this survey and offers tips and advice.

Listen and tell us how you feel about your financial situation going into 2019.

With 2018 coming to a close, it’s the perfect time for all of us to reflect on we’re grateful for. It’s also a good opportunity to start the new year by keeping a gratitude journal. Oprah has kept a journal for years and says she’s felt most happy when she keeps up with the practice of writing in it daily.  This week we discuss the greatest rewards that come from having a gratitude journal and Anthony refuses to even think about ever using one.  Listen and let us know if you keep one or will be starting to write in one in 2019!

Have you ever thanked yourself for what you've done in your life? Snoop dog recently was awarded a star on the Walk of Fame and on his lists of "thank yous" he thanked himself. Would you expect anything else from Snoop Dog? However, maybe he's on to something. Why are we not thanking ourselves. Who got you the job? Who gave birth to that baby? Who gets up everyday and works out? The list could go on. This week we want you to thank yourself for something! Listen to the crew and let us know what you're thankful for!
